Johnny Moss

Born in 1907, Texas-born Johnny Moss started making his way into the gambling world as a teenager. A group of boys taught him how to cheat at the game, but he used that knowledge to help him get hired at a local saloon in Dallas where he was to make sure that games were played properly and fairly. He learned poker strategies as he watched the live games, and two years later, he became a rounder, which is a term used for players who travelled the country looking for gambling action. He was popular before gambling was ever legal, but after it was legalized, he won the World Series of Poker in 1970, 1971, and in 1974. He won $834,422.00 in WSOP tournaments. He passed away in 1995.
