Fastest Production Cars in the World

These cars aren't only fast, they're ridiculously overpowered, and sexy as hell. See the fastest cars ever produced on a factory line.

Fastest Production Cars in the World

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport

268 Miles per Hour
Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport

This car is about as close as you can get to a rocket on wheels. Now when your just driving around town the car has 600 horsepower on hand by default which is more than enough for most people, but if 600 horsepower isn't enough, you can push a button to go in to rocket mode, where the car gives you another 600 horsepower at your dispense, totaling 1200 horsepower.. Oh and the 1200 horsepower comes from a 16 cylinder quad turbo engine, yes you heard me correctly, 16 cylinders, and 4 freaking turbos. Now if that isn't enough, who knows what is. But keep in mind this rocket doesn't have a cheap price tag, the entry price for this car is around $2.4 million.

Hennessey Venom GT

267 Miles per Hour
Hennessey Venom GT

I must say this car is pretty astonishing. If you haven't noticed yet, yes the body of this car started off as a Lotus Exige, but the Venom GT is far from being a Lotus. Don't get me wrong, the Lotus is great, but the Venom GT is amazing. The car is built by John Hennessey, of Hennessey Motors, and they cut no corners with this car. It comes with a 1200 horsepower twin turbo v8 engine that is capable of 0-60 in 2.5 seconds, and 0-200 in 15.8 seconds (Veyron 0-200 = 24.2). I don't know about you but those numbers are mind blowing and with a price tag of only $1 million, seems like a much better deal than a Veyron Super Sport.

Koenigsegg CCXR

259 Miles per Hour
Koenigsegg CCXR

This car is absolutely stunning, now most people can barely pronounce the name, but that really doesn't matter, considering how jaw dropping this car is. The 8 cylinder twin supercharged engine in this car pushes about 1060 horsepower, and can do the 0-60 in a mere 2.9 seconds, plus the exterior of this beast is made of pre-impregnated carbon fiber and kevlar. In 2009 Forbes review, this car was voted in the top 10 for best looking cars ever built, and I'd definitely have to agree. Oh and it only costs $1.2 million, no biggie..

SSC Ultimate Aero TT

257 Miles per Hour
SSC Ultimate Aero TT

For those of you who are unaware, the SSC stands for Shelby Super Cars, and it's easy to see this car is quite the beaut. In my opinion it's a mix between the Lambo Spyder and the Saleen S7, both of which are gorgeous. An interesting fact about the creation of this car is that when they decided to build it, their goal was to break the world speed record for production cars, and at the time it was tested in 2007, they did break it! The power plant in this car is a massive Chevrolet v8 with twin turbos, and its capable of making 1180 horsepower and a 0-60 time of 2.78. But the most astonishing feature of this car is that it can get 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway! Most super-cars like this get around 6 to 8 mpg, making it hands down the most practical super-car on earth.

Bugatti Veyron

253 Miles per Hour
Bugatti Veyron

If you haven't noticed yet, the Veyrons bigger brother (Veyron Super Sport) is also on this list a few spots higher. But we had to go ahead and put the original Veyron in the list, because, well it is still the 4th fastest production car in the world. Now everything on this car is exactly the same as the Super Sport, accept the engine and the front bumper. The engine in this hoss still has the 16 cylinder quad turbo, but only with 1001 horsepower instead of the Super Sports 1200. As far as the front of the car, it's very hard to notice but they did do some small modifications to the Super Sport to make it a bit more aerodynamic, and of course, go faster, but thou shouldn't worry. The original Bugatti Veyron is still ridiculously fast and ridiculously awesome and to buy this four wheel drive powerhouse, you only have to spend a reasonable $1.5 million! One word, Bargain.

Koenigsegg CCX

250 Miles per Hour
Koenigsegg CCX

Yes, once again we see another brother in the list, the Koenigsegg CCX. But don't be fooled, just because there is a faster version, doesn't mean this one isn't insane as well. The only difference between this car and the bigger brother (CCXR) is the CCXR's engine was built to run on bio-fuel, but everything else is the exact same. That small difference though gives the v8 twin supercharged engine 25% more horsepower, which is quite a bit. But so what if the CCX only has 806 horsepower, it can still annihilate 99.9% of cars on the road, and it looks awesome too.

Lotec Sirius

248 Miles per Hour
Lotec Sirius

So is it just me or does this car look strikingly similar to a shark (yes the fish)? Anyway this car is quite beastly though, and out of all the super cars listed so far, this one has the most horsepower, at a whopping 1330! Now I'm sure some people are thinking "Dang, with that much horsepower, why isn't it the fastest?" Well folks, there is a lot more to going fast than just horsepower. But as far as the engine goes in this Sirius, its powered by a 12 cylinder twin turbo Mercedes engine, with modifications of course. As far as the price, I have yet to find a consistent number, but I would guess in the $1 million ballpark, give or take $500,000.
