Luke

The name Luke derives from the name of a region in Italy, Lucania, through the ancient Greek name "Loukas", meaning "a native of Lucania". Luke, Lucas, Lucania and the ancient Lucani people would then share the same Indo-European root. Luke, in Greek Lukos means "wolf", or from the Greek word Leucos meaning "bright".
